Plans for comprehensive retrofit will be on display to take the house (a 1950s bungalow extended in 1979) to Passivhaus EnerPhit standard including external wall insulation, timber/aluminium triple glazed windows, and new heating and ventilation together with some of the materials proposed. Works already carried out will be available to view ie combi boiler with internal tanks, programmer with weather compensator, wood burning stove. Tours of the house will be available. Also on show will be plans for a separate project, a new build Passivhaus on Alexandra Road, Heaton Moor. Architect Sara Darwin of Phi architects http://phi-architects.com who has designed both schemes along with Mel and Steve Howarth who commissioned the Passivhaus, will be available between 2 to 4pm to discuss their project.
